As we know, XBMC is an award-winning free and open source software media player and entertainment hub for digital media. XBMC is available for Linux, Mac OS X, Windows and the original Xbox. More than 50 software developers have contributed to XBMC, and 100-plus translators have worked to expand its reach, making it available in more than 30 languages.

Currently XBMC can be used to play almost all popular audio and video formats around. Here I just list some XBMC supported formats as below:

From XBMC supported format list, you will find that XBMC can not accept Blu-ray discs while Blu-ray has more and more popular in our digital life. I guess, some people may want to enjoy Blu-rays on XBMC like me. Here I will share with you an easy method to enjoy Blu-ray on XBMC, which is to convert Blu-ray to XBMC workable format like WMV, MP4, MPEG, etc with a reliable
Blu-ray ripper or
Mac Blu-ray Ripper, like this one called
Moyea Blu-ray Ripper which is designed to convert any Blu-ray (protected or non protected) to other popular video/audio format at high fast conversion speed and excellent output quality.
1) After launching this good Blu-ray ripper, you can add your Blu-ray files into it (click one of the buttons: “
DVD Rom”, “
DVD Folder” and “
IFO/ISO” to realize it).
2) Choose output format from the drop-down list “
Format” as well as set the destination from the “
Output”. Otherwise, the output files will be saved in the default folder automatically. If you want to join several Blu-ray files into one, just click the checkbox “
Merge into one file”. Or you can click the “
Settings” button to adjust audio and video parameters like resolution, bit rate, frame rate, codec, size, channels, etc for better video quality.
3) Once all the settings are done, you can click the “
Convert” button to start Blu-ray conversion.
As long as you get the converted files from the destination, you can put them on your XBMC for viewing. According to my own experience, all the process will be done in a short time.
Hope it helps!
